Got Balls??? … Live and Play at Westchase
The first in my Golf Course Communities Series..
I have included Westchase in my series on Golf Course Communities , but it offers so much more!
Convenient to the Veterans Expressway, Westchase was one of the the first major residential developments in the Northwest part of Tampa. In fact, in the early 90s when it was being developed, it was considered to be way out in the sticks and we all wondered who would ever move there!
Now, Westchase is the closest of the popular suburban communities and, over the years, it has grown to be one of the best! Residents can choose from the in-town lifestyle of West Park Village, with its
homes, townhomes or apartments. You can walk over to Catch 23 for some great seafood, or stop into Starbucks for a cup of coffee. The shops offer a little something for everyone, from baby clothes to ice cream!
The many villages within the community have a variety of housing styles. The gated communities of Harborlinks and The Greens, have some lots with golf course frontage, or conservation. You can find attached villas, single-family homes and townhomes in the many neighborhoods, each with its own personality. Home prices range from the 300’s to the 800’s. The many biking trails, parks, tennis courts and 2 poo
ls make it very appealing for all ages. Westchase Elementary School and Davidsen Middle School are located within Westchase, so it is very popular for families. Both Lowry Elementary and Westchase Elementary are assigned to addresses in Westchase, so check the school assigned to a particular address, before you make an offer on a particular home.
The Westchase Golf Club, open to the public, has a challenging, narrow course, with plenty of doglegs, that was designed by Lloyd Clifton. It winds through 213 acres of woods, lakes and natural wetlands.
It is an enjoyable course to play! I remember the first tournament I played in at Westchase, which was my first experience on the course. I was doing fairly well, keeping my 91 mph drive right down the center, until I got to the third tee. Crack the drive was long and straight. I was thrilled. Until my partner informed be about the water behind the trees! I lost a lot of my pretty, pink golf balls that daybut I learned to check the course layout for each hole and how to stay out of the water. I thought about writing a new ad campaign for the club.. Got BallsPlay Westchase . I never lost another ball on the third hole again, or hit my ball into the windshield of an oncoming car on Linebaugh Avenue (like one of my foursome), and I have a first-place trophy to prove it!
I have really enjoyed playing golf at Westchaseyou will, too! Just be prepared to lose a few ballsor brush up on the course layout before you get to the first tee!
If you would like more information about Westchase, MLS area 228 and zip code 33626, please contact me.

I can’t imagine smashing someone’s windshield on Linebaugh. I drive that road so often, now I’ll be on the look out for pretty pink golf balls falling from heaven.
