Sometimes I enjoy stepping outside the Tampa Real Estate Market, to talk about real estate in other parts of the world.
Many Americans find themselves dreaming of living outside the United States someday. Increasing numbers of Americans are choosing to live in foreign countries, with quality of life , as one of the most influential factors in their decision-making process about where to live.
The latest rankings, from Business Week magazine, show the Best Places to live in the World.
1. Zurich, Switzerland
2. Vienna, Austria and Geneva, Switzerland(tie)
4.Vancouver, Canada
5. Auckland, New Zealand
6. Dusseldorf, Germany
7. Munich, Germany and Frankfurt, Germany (tie)
9. Bern, Switzerland
10. Sydney, Australia
Clearly, the Swiss and the Germans know a thing, or two, about creating a fabulous place to live! I lived close to Bern, so I can attest to the sweet life in Switzerland! I have been to all, but 3, of these places. If I could only select one of these amazing cities to live in, it would be a very difficult choice.
How about the U.S. rankings? The highest ranking city was Honolulu, Hawaii, which came in at number 28.
The lowest ranking city in the world? No surpriseBaghdad!

Plant High School District is Still A Top Choice for Tampa Real Estate

Every week, I receive inquiries about Tampa Real Estate in the Plant High School District. No wonder, Plant High is one of the Top 100 High Schools in the U.S! I live, and work, in the Plant High District in Tampa, so I know it very well!
Plant High is located in the South Tampa neighborhood of Palma Ceia , just south of the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, which is part of Tampa zip code 33629. A variety of housing styles, from 1920s Bungalows to Stately homes along the fairways, sit on brick streets, lined with grandfather oaks. It is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in South Tampa!
In this little “nook” in the Tampa Real Estate Market, Prices range from $300,000 to several million! Just 5 minutes to downtown Tampa or Tampa General Hospital, and 10 minutes to the airport, it is a very convenient neighborhood for the busy professional. The proximity to Plant High school makes it a top choice for families moving to Tampa!

This week I will focus on Neighborhoods in the H.B. Plant High School District. As one of the Top 100 High Schools in the U.S., living in the Plant High District is a priority for many families moving to Tampa, or moving to another home in South Tampa.
Plant High is located between Himes Avenue and Dale Mabry, just a few blocks north of Bay to Bay Boulevard, in South Tampa.
One of the most popular South Tampa Neighborhoods, is New Suburb Beautiful . Best described as a neighborhood reminiscent of the Leave it To Beaver era, most of the homes are traditional style, with many center-hall colonials, bungalows, along with some spanish architecture, too. Stock up on Halloween candythis neighborhood is FILLED with school-aged children!
New Suburb Beautiful is located in the Mitchell Elementary, Wilson Middle, and H.B. Plant High School District.
Prices range from $400,000 to $1,000,000. Its a small neighborhood, just four blocks long, located East of MacDill Avenue and South of Morrison Avenue. You can see the current listings in New Suburb Beautiful here.

In Hillsborough County, the 8th Largest School District in the U.S., 
school assignments are based on your home address. Florida schools are rated annually, with grades of A-F. While there are many school choices available with charter schools, magnet schools, and the International Baccalaureate programs, a house in one of the top-rated school districts, with an A rating, will have a better resale value than one in a lesser-rated district. Three of the district high schools have made the list of the Top 100 High Schools in the country. Special assignments to a specific school, outside of your assigned school, are available on a space-available basis.
The School District has a very comprehensive website. Often, a listing agent does not include the schools assigned for a particular house, so you should check the district site before you make an offer. Even if you do not have any children, or are not planning to have children, the school district will affect your resale value!

The Latest News on the Tampa Real Estate Market and Fun Things to do In Tampa Every Day!
Tampa Theatre is an historic theatre in Downtown Tampa. They feature the avant-garde and artsy films in Tampa, which are rarely shown in the other cinema houses.
Their summer camp, Lets Make Movies , is designed for middle and high school children. It is a fabulous introduction to the world of film-making and it is LOADS of fun.
Today, The Ybor Film Festival, will feature a sampling of movies from the 2007 Lets Make Movies summer camp at Tampa Theatre. My daughters film Crazy Celebrities , will be among those featured. As she rummaged through my closet last summer, in search of wigs and interesting clothing, I had a feeling I was in for a treat! Stop by the film festival today and enjoy the films.
The young film makers will be introduced, and answer questions about their movie-making experience.
