Take a Break From the Tampa Real Estate Market Today…Watch the Vice-Presidential Debate
Categories: Poll, Tampa Real Estate Agent, Tampa Real Estate Market, Where is Jackie Now?
I’m taking a little break from Tampa Real Estate for a few days and spending a long weekend in Seattle. I’m looking forward to some cooler weather, some great seafood and some interesting political discussion about the vice-presidential debate.
If you have been reading The Real Estate Sizzle for a while, you know that I am logical, factual, opinionated and LOVE my career in Real Estate. I also love politics, and this has been an especially exciting political year! However, with the mainstream media, it has been quite a challenge to sort out facts from fiction about the issues and the candidates!
While I am away, enjoy a few of my thought-provoking articles:
The Presidential Election is Nearly Here…Do You Know the Candidates?
Will The Choice for Vice President Decide Your Vote?
How will I choose a President? The same way I choose my friends and associates. I will choose the candidate with integrity, experience, good values, and one who looks out for the long-term good of the country. I will choose a candidate who believes in keeping us safe from terrorists, wherever they may be. I will choose a candidate who does the right thing, even when it’s not the popular thing to do. I will look at the candidates’ friends, and associates, past and present, because “you are known by the company you keep”. That means I will not vote for anyone with ties to terrorists, radical groups or associates who “hate America”. I will choose a candidate who tracks wasteful spending in Government and puts an end to it. And, lastly, I will choose a candidate who has a proven track record. With the downfall of many companies on Wall Street recently, how many investors really checked the “track record” or the “management style” of the companies they invested in, or tracked their recent performances, including the behavior of the management, such as selling off their stock? Past accomplishments, not eloquent speeches, are the best indicator of future success. Life isn’t always about Real Estate, but it is always about “doing the right thing”!
My thoughts for the day…I’ll be back on Monday!

Enjoy Life in Tampa Bay at Westshore Yacht Club
Categories: Buyers, Florida Real Estate, Real Estate News, Relocation, South Tampa, Tampa, Where is Jackie Now?
If you are moving to Tampa, or checking out the latest news on the Tampa Real Estate Market, one of the newest developments in South Tampa is Westshore Yacht Club, a gated community which fronts on Tampa Bay. Buyers can
choose from Townhomes, Condominiums and Single Family Homes, starting in the 300’s and has a variety of housing styles from Mediterranean to Traditional. The condominium units in the Castillo Towers have front to back views of the bay and downtown Tampa with prices starting in the 500’s.
The neighborhood is just 10 miles from the airport or downtown and an easy drive across the bay to downtown St. Petersburg. A waterfront community, Westshore Yacht Club has 149 floating concrete docks, so it is definitely a boaters paradise.
The Bay Club, call it a country club on the bay features a dining room, billiard room, cigar patio, fitness room, mens and ladies spas, pool, outdoor and indoor barswhat a place! It recently opened…with rave reviews!
Westshore Yacht Club is the perfect lifestyle!

The Best Places in the World to Live
Categories: International Real Estate, Real Estate News, Where is Jackie Now?
What are the best cities in the world to live??
1. Geneva, Switzerland
2. Zurich, Switzerland
3.Vancouver, Canada
4.Vienna, Austria
5. Frankfurt, Germany
6. Munich, Germany
7. Dusseldorf, Germany
8. Auckland, New Zealand
9. Bern, Switzerland
10. Copenhagen, Denmark
Source: http://www.finfacts.com
I haven’t been to Vancouver, Auckland or Dusseldorf, but I can certainly agree with the rest of the cities on the list. I received my Certified International Property Designation, after taking the course in Vienna. It has become one of MY favorite cities in the world. As a member of the International Real Estate Federation, I will be back again in December, for a FIABCI meeting…I can’t wait! I hope it snows!
Having lived in Switzerland, I can personally call that country a “near perfect civilization”…It is beautiful, clean, safe, and orderly. The ideal home for a “Type A” like me. They have virtually no crime, because even a very minor crime is severely punished. In fact, the country runs like a Swiss clock. The trains wait for no one…they run EXACTLY on time. I lived in Fribourg, a medieval city comprised of two sections, the newer city and the old town (the basse-ville), or “lower city”. The two were connected by a funiculaire, which saved you a hike up the steep hill.
The town was charming and spotless. I think they swept the streets all day long! The local brewery, Cardinal, served up a pretty fine beer and the Fondue and Raclette were to die for..not to mention the Lindt chocolate. Switzerland is comprised of 26 Cantons (like states) each with its own character and primary language. In Fribourg/Freiberg they speak French or Swiss-Allemande, a Swiss German. They don’t pretend not to speak English, they truly don’t speak it. My maternal family is French, so I attended a French grammar school in the U.S. and living in Switzerland was heaven for me. I did, occasionally, crave a little “English”, so I would hop a train to Bern, the Capital (and German-speaking) for a movie with English subtitles.
Zurich, is a very commercial center and is home to many European divisions of Corporations around the world. Geneva, on the lake, and close to France, is French-speaking and is a lovely overnight stop on the way to the French Riviera. Ticino, the sole Italian-speaking canton, is more laid-back, like Italy…where few trains run on time and I missed many a connection to get back home! The Swiss are more “serious” than their Northern neighbors in Germany. Which, is also, a wonderful place to live, or visit, especially during Fasching (Mardi
Gras) or Oktoberfest. That is definitely a subject for another day…
I still have my old Swiss Residency Card and I am keeping it in a safe place…just in case I need it again someday..stay tuned for some of the easiest places to establish residency abroad AND some of the hardest (Switzerland)!

I can help with your move abroad, or to any Tampa neighborhood, including: South Tampa, Davis Islands, Beach Park, Sunset Park, Hyde Park, Culbreath Isles, Palma Ceia, Westchase, Waterchase, Odessa, Cheval, Avila, Brandon, Riverview, FishHawk, New Tampa, Tampa Palms, Hunters Green, Arbor Greene, Apollo Beach, South Shore, MiraBay, Golf Communities, Waterfront Homes, Luxury Homes in Tampa, Condos in Tampa and the Gulf Beaches.

Real Estate Blurbs, Advice and Blogger Buddies…Tampa Real Estate News
Categories: Buyers, Real Estate News, Tampa, Where is Jackie Now?
If you have been “tuning in” this week, you know I am in Las Vegas for two real estate conferences. During my blogging hiatus, I am bringing you some great articles from other real estate blogs that I enjoy!
Bob Fortner, Raleigh Real Estate Talk offers some great insight about the appraisal process!
One of my ABSOLUTE favorite blogs is authored by Marketing Guru, Seth Godin. It’s not about real estate, but he always has something interesting to say. I’ll be attending one of his sessions at the conference this week!
We use “price per square foot”, in Tampa, when we are trying to determine the “right” price. Matt Lanning has some interesting thoughts on that subject in the San Francisco market.
Sara Brosier, writes about “Days on the Market” over at Kuna Country. Our MLS system DOES provide the entire history of how long a home has been on the market, but every area is different.
Since it’s Friday, you must enjoy a little Friday Fun with Teresa Boardman in St. Paul…she is a hoot…and has some great photos!
Don’t miss what Ines is up to.. over at Miamism!
Reading blogs from around the U.S. and around the World, gives me great marketing ideas and plenty of real estate advice. I have enjoyed sharing some of my favorites with you this week. If you like what you have been reading, you can bookmark your favorites, or sign up for an email feed. Over on my right sidebar…toward the bottom, you can click on “Blogs I Read” and enjoy a little more from the Real Estate Blogosphere.
See you on Monday! Have a Great Weekend!

Trump Tower Tampa…If It’s Anything Like Trump World Tower… You Should Pass!
Categories: Florida Condominiums, International Real Estate, Luxury Homes in Tampa, Real Estate News, Tampa Real Estate, Where is Jackie Now?
THE LATEST NEWS ON THE TAMPA REAL ESTATE MARKET, BUYING A HOME IN TAMPA, AND REAL ESTATE ISSUES AROUND THE WORLD, EVERY DAY, ON THE REAL ESTATE SIZZLE.
Trump Tower Tampa, a project that has been on-again, off-again for several years, is promised to be a Trump Signature Building . What, exactly, does that mean? Limestone flooring? Miele appliances? ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ Baths in the Master? What does Trump consider signature work?
Inquiring minds took that question to New York City to have a look at one of the Trump properties. I recently visited Trump World Tower, located near the U.N. Plaza. Completed in 2001, the building is nearly new and the finishes should be very nice. I was sorely disappointed. Along for the tour, were several other International Real Estate Specialists from Connecticut, Denver and South Carolina. The disdain for the building was unanimous! We rolled our eyes at each other as the sales rep pointed out the lovely
features!
I visited three resale units, ranging in price from 3 Million to over 6 Million. The finishes were the same in all of the units, regardless of the floor, or the size of the apartment.
The bleached oak herringbone flooring was horrible! I was expecting Brazilian Cherry Low grade baseboards, small closets, low ceilings and a small closed-in kitchen with high-gloss, white mica cabinets and GE Monogram appliancesnary a Miele or Viking in sightfor SIX MILLION DOLLARS???? For 6M, I want a kitchen that sings to me!
The building DOES have a ground floor fitness center and pool, which I could only describe as dingy However, Derek Jeter lives there and, as the rep was quick to point out, she sat next to Glenn Close at the bar and recently spotted Brad Pitt there, too. WOW. That must be worth 6 Million, dont you think?
OkayI will give the building one complimentIt has great views!
So, my advice to the buyers at Trump Tower Tampa…read the fine print in that contract…
I can help with your move to any Tampa neighborhood, including: South Tampa, Davis Islands, Beach Park, Sunset Park, Hyde Park, Culbreath Isles, Palma Ceia, Westchase, Waterchase, Odessa, Cheval, Avila, Brandon, Riverview, FishHawk, New Tampa, Tampa Palms, Hunters Green, Arbor Greene, Apollo Beach, South Shore, MiraBay, Golf Communities, Waterfront Homes, Luxury Homes in Tampa, Condos in Tampa and International Real Estatecontact me!

I am taking a break from the Tampa Real Estate market this week, while attending a FIABCI member event at the United Nations in New York City.
Unlike many other parts of the country, the Real Estate market in New
York City is still sizzling and I will have the opportunity to meet with International Real Estate Specialists from the local market and around the World, and have a look at some properties in Manhattan.
For a peek at the latest on the Manhattan Real Estate Scene, visit Urban Digs. It is one of the best blogs in the industry and really captures the pulse of the NYC real estate market.
Seeing the brisk sales in the City, as well as other fast-selling areas in the U.S., reminds us to ignore the national media regarding the housing crisis . New York is the perfect example of how local real estate issupply and demand, local economy and job growth determine the health of a any real estate market. National Statistics are just thatNationaland Real Estate is Local.
So, today, Im off to have a look at that booming Manhattan Real Estate Market$1000/square foot??? Tampa real estate is a bargain!
